The Lover of My Soul Waited for Me–Inspired by Song of songs. 2: 8-10

You left your glory to save me from my misery.

I didn’t fully realize my horrendous and hopeless fate.

I was not even ready to be saved-

Yet you came climbing over mountains and leaping over hills,

you waited ever so patiently.

All the while I was so unworthy of your loving attention.

Then I heard the question that would change my life forever:

” Will you marry me?”

I pondered, who is asking?

 When I beheld Him,

Oh, I was breathless with the awareness that the Lord of Glory Himself was requesting my peasant hand in marriage.

This was the proposal of a lifetime!

He offered me an invitation to be His bride.

I could not resist the love in His eyes-

nor the holes in His hands.

Now, I am the bride of the most handsome, delightful and compassionate groom–

 the chief among ten thousand.

None can compare to Him, my shepherd king, Jesus Christ.

This measure of love is far too wonderful for me to fully comprehend-

and yet I know one thing with certainty:

I could never live without the Lover of my soul,

 my delight

the only one who truly satisfies.

You hold the key to my heart.

I live in continual adoration of you.

Who am I, that You would wait on me?

Since that moment, my life’s deepest ambition has been to please the One whom my soul loves completely. Nothing can delude or distract me from my devotion to Him.

I am His.
Forever His.

Promised Bride,
Maureen
